Increased Generation at Mystic Lake Earns Tax CreditsSubmitted by Rupak Thapaliya on Thu, 2010-06-10 15:50
Through an order issued on June 2, 2010, FERC has certified the increased hydropower generation from Mystic Lake hydropower project (P-2301) in Montana to be eligble for tax credits under Section 1301 of the Energy Policy Act of 2005.
PPL Montana, the licensee for the project, achieved additional generation by replacing the two 1920’s Pelton Water wheels with two identical used 1970’s Pelton Water wheels in 2007 and 2008. The new turbines have increased the generation of the two turbines by a total of 6442 MWh, an increase by 11.34%.
