Description

The Miner Shoal Project would use water from the Soque River to be collected by a proposed intake structure at the existing flood wall.  Ha-Best’s proposed project would include the renovation of existing facilities as well as the development of new hydropower facilities.

The proposed project would consist of the following facilities:  (1) an existing 5-foot-high, 80-foot-long flood wall with a new intake structure; (2) a new 160-foot-long, 7-foot-diameter steel penstock that would extend from the flood wall and tie into an existing 92-foot-long, 7-foot-diameter steel penstock; (3) a trifurcation which divides the penstock into three penstocks; leading to (4)(a) the existing 1,375 square foot, primary powerhouse which contains two generating units, each with an installed capacity of 520 kilowatts (kW), and (b) an existing 225 square foot auxiliary powerhouse containing one generating unit with an installed capacity of 220 kW, for a combined total installed capacity of 1,260 kW; (5) an existing 446-foot-long, 230-kilovolt (kV) transmission line; and (6) an existing access road from a proposed parking area to the powerhouses.  The proposed project would generate an estimated average annual generation of 2,175 megawatt-hours (MWh).
