The licensee for the project- Price Dam Partnership, a subsidiary of Brookfield Energy- surrendered the license for the project in February 2013 citing financial infeasibility. FERC accepted the surrender in June 2013.
The Price Dam Project would have uses the Corps' existing Melvin Price Locks & Dam and reservoir (known as Pool 26). The project would use multiple turbine-generating units in six generating modules that can be easily lifted out of the water during flood flows to reduce damage to the units or to allow responsibilities at the MP Locks & Dam.
The original license was obtained by Price Dam Partnership Limited but transferred to Brookfield Power in October 2007.
