The project received its license in January 2014 and would be located on the US Bureau of Reclamation’s Rye Patch Dam (an irrigation dam) on the Humboldt River in Pershing County, Nevada. The Rye Patch dam is an earthen dam that is 1,074 feet long and 78 feet high with a crest elevation of 4,136 feet above mean sea level (msl). The dam includes a concrete spillway 110 feet wide and 353 feet long.

Pershing County Water Conservation District, which received the license for the hydropower project will operate the project in a run-of-river mode relying on the water available to them after the irrigation purposes are fulfilled.
