Waterway: Lake Shelokum
Alaska Power & Telephone Company obtained a preliminary permit for this project in May 2009 and surrendered it in April 2011.
The proposed project would withdraw water from Lake Shelokum and transport it via a penstock to a powerhouse on the edge of Bailey Bay, where the water would be discharged into Bailey Bay.
In its surrender requiest, APT stated:
“Due to potential environmental issues, the federal land status for the site, and current recreational use of this area, including potential difficulties with using National Forest System lands, we request that the Commission withdraw this preliminary permit.”
