Restoring the Lower Snake

Published 10/5/2020  |  Trout Unlimited

The final sign-off of a plan that would maintain the status quo for the Lower Snake River was no surprise last week. However, a letter from the Nez Perce Tribe declining a memorandum of understanding between the tribe, the Bonneville Power Administration, Corps of Engineers and the Bureau of Reclamation reminded us what strong leadership on this issue looks like. And make no mistake, we will need strong leadership to restore salmon and steelhead to the Lower Snake River. Thank you to the Nez Perce Tribal Executive Committee for your commitment and connection to the Snake River.
