In 2008, the City of Hastings and Hydro Green Energy collaborated to add two hydrokinetic turbines in the existing project and requested FERC for approval.
FERC approved the request in December 2008 by amending the existing license.
This is the first in-river hydrokinetic project that makes use of hydrokinetic turbines to generate electricity.
